Pros

[1] Bespoke deliverables. You get a chance to create and leave value with clients: consistently impressed by how we were encouraged to customize our services for each client. Be prepared because you won't be offering off-the-shelf solutions; you will design specific strategies to address unique challenges. This tailored approach ensures we deliver maximum value but can be intimidating if you don't have experience creating this type of work. [2] Collaborative approach. Even when you a sole contributor with a client there is the expectation to collaborate both with the client team and internally; quality delivery will require you to leverage the knowledge base of the Propeller collective as nearly every assignment requires a truly broad skillset (in other words, imposter syndrome is strong, overcome it by getting curious and asking questions). This fosters innovation and allows me to engage deeply in problem-solving, which is incredibly fulfilling. [3] World-Class Expertise. I was honored to work alongside such talented individuals. Colleagues (both consultants and operational staff) are truly world-class thinkers and doers. The combined expertise drives impactful results and cultivates a culture of excellence that's unmatched (everyone at this organization has such an incredible breadth and depth of professional and personal experiences, you just can't help but relish the opportunity to learn.

Cons

[1] Startup Growing Pains. It is important to recognize Propeller is still in startup mode (which is a good thing but brings with it some discomfort). This means will mean some inevitable growing pains. Propeller is not perfect and aren't always making the right call, but I recognize and appreciate the consistent commitment to transparency as we work through these challenges. I can tell you this organization sets the bar high when it comes to a sincere desire to get it right, do it better. [2] Evolving Expertise. At Propeller you will constantly be honing your craft and expertise, it's important to note that the concept of expertise is still evolving resulting in industry and practice areas feeling dynamic, which means we're often adapting on the fly. This can sometimes lead to uncertainty or shifts in direction. Be prepared to engage to help shape rather than follow the evolution.

Pros

It’s people - you get to network with variety of people from various backgrounds

Cons

Very homogeneous - since they have started cutting down the diversity which was already bare minimum looks even more limited

Pros

I have enjoyed my years at Propeller and plan to stay for many more years! My colleagues are genuinely kind, engaged in their work, supportive of their teammates, and a pleasure to work with. I am supported by my direct manager and the firm leadership overall. They support professional growth through regular check-ins, consistent performance evaluations, learning and development opportunities, stretch assignments, and more. I feel supported personally, which is valuable as a full-time working parent. The compensation is competitive. Also, the benefits are great and expanding each year. For example, we recently added a sabbatical program for employees that have been at Propeller for five years. I am excited by the growth, for me as an individual and for the firm overall.

Cons

For some, the pace of change at Propeller may be challenging. We are rapidly evolving as a company, requiring frequent pivoting, new systems, etc. As we grow, we also lose some of the “everyone knows everyone” feeling I experienced when I started, but that is inevitable. We haven’t fully realized all the company’s goals (such as for DEI), but I believe leadership is still committed to moving in the right direction.
