Pros

Very forgiving work culture, as they're willing to work with you. They treat you like a person. I can speak okay of the company culture. They aren't quick to fire.

Cons

If you're the hardest worker in a bad crew they will overwork you then talk bad behind your back for politics. (at least at my location). Will entice you with talk of full time but never give it. You are given stock as an employee (even part-time), but can't do anything with it, nor see any type of money from it, until you've completed 3 years of continuous employment with at least 1000hrs worked each year. But, you can't keep the stock after you leave until you've done that for 5 years. So the stock they love to talk about isn't really of any use to you until you've committed 5 years. Most who've made it far, meaning management or getting real money from dividend stock (from my observation) started when they were in high school or joined Publix later in life as a second or third career job. (as you have full access to the stock after turning 60)

Pros

Pay is good, benefits are better than other places

Cons

Total disconnect from upper management as to what goes on in the stores because all they do all day is sit around and talk about irrelevant stuff that has nothing to do with work. While getting paid to actually do some work. New Publix philosophy should be "where working used to be a pleasure" If you are a hard worker you'll never get promoted unless you brown nose your way up, is not about how hard you work anymore but how fast can you become friends with the DM

Pros

Great retirement if you can put up with it

Cons

Publix is a far cry from the company that Mr. George, the founder envisioned at least. At the moment I feel like we have ran most of the competition out of town and now we are the only choice. Also, I don't think Mr. George intended for the associates which are also the shareholders to be work to death to a point to where once they do get to retirement age, They can't truly enjoy it because of the quality of life is so bad because of the conditions we work in from day to day. Right now Publix is the only choice, not the premier grocery retailer choice
