Pros

Publix in itself is a great company! It has great benefits and also as an associate you can acquire stock with the company which is also a great plus. They actually care. They work with you with scheduling and they make every effort to see you suceed.

Cons

Mirco managing. Micro managing is going to drive the atmosphere at Publix into the ground. They are quick to point out faults but only a select few will make you feel like you are appreciated. It is a great company and the atmosphere with shoppers is undeniably the best, however the atmosphere with the associates needs work.

Pros

You get to wear jeans to work.

Cons

Overall Publix is a bad place for I.T. professionals. If you want to work in a professional environment with smart people, Publix is not the place. Incompetent, untrustworthy, dishonest, rude, unprofessional IT management. Dishonest, unprofessional to I.T. vendors. Promotions based on who you kiss up to, not based on actual performance. Poor employee morale (you’re expendable, replaceable and treated like dirt). Terrible work-life balance, long hours with no fair compensation. No I.T. talent (all the talent is leaving or has left). High insurance, weak benefits. The cheapest, fastest solution is the best solution. No advancement, management discourages training and you’re blocked from moving into other areas of the I.T dept.

Pros

Health, vision, dental, 401k, free Publix Stock just for showing up and putting in your time, quarterly profit sharing bonuses, holiday bonus, stock dividends! Managers who don't treat you like dirt, some great coworkers, some real cool customers, busy, fast paced environment. I have all those benefits listed above and I am still part time! My managers are great and have taught me a lot of the skills I need in order to move up into management myself. They definitely take the time to teach you what you need to do in order to take care of the customer, and thats what Publix is all about, taking care of the customer.

Cons

It is very difficult to get full time. But if you are Pt and work hard, management will give you more hours than other part timers who may be slackers. No vacation time if you're PT and work 35+ hours a week. Your hours get cut at the end of each quarter if your average is over 35, but will increase back to 35+ once the new quarter starts. Co-workers can be very cliquey. The rumor/gossip mill is similar to that of a high school. Some co workers are also negative, toxic people to be around. Some customers can be downright nasty. The schedule can bit a bit too variable at times (ie Work 3-midnight one day, work 7am-5pm the next day)
