Pros

It is challenging. They take care of their employees very well. My professor gave me lots of opportunities to be involved with other projects.

Cons

They push you pretty hard but at the same time you are learning a lot more than school work. No much really.

Pros

The work atmosphere is very laid back and low stress. The benefits package is good. Employees get a lot of paid time off as well as Medical, Vision, Dental. West Lafayette is a wonderful place to raise a family with great schools - although the winters can be tough. Working for a university also affords a lot of opportunities to learn by taking courses etc. There are some cutting edge projects going on at Purdue so getting involved in one or more of them can provide opportunities to increase knowledge. Being able to cheer for the Boilermaker teams is also a big plus.

Cons

Since Purdue is an educational institution the culture is one where educational degrees are put on a mantle when compared to professional experience. To really advance to any meaningful position at Purdue requires a PhD as anything less is viewed as inferior. Also, most professors and managers believe any work can probably be done by Graduate assistants and do not value professionals too much.
