      Pros

      Training, leading knowledge experts, opportunity for transfer and promotion, looks great on resume, excellent benefits package, competitive pay, decent travel policies.

      Cons

      The politics are unreal, management often has an adversarial relationship with employees, reviews and promotions often tied to favoritism, not performance, it's not what you know, it's who you know.

      Great people to work with in an environment that fosters competition, but low compensation when compared to its peers

      Pros

      One reason - the people. The breath and depth of people's expertise in a strong big-four consulting firm are difficult to match by the competition. During these last two years, the consulting arms of the the big four have increased the size and scope of services they are able to provide clients. This growth increases the opportunities to engage different types of projects and gain expertise. This is a great environment for someone who likes learning and new challenges.

      Cons

      Traveling and politics - Expect 90% traveling in advisory. Politics is more complex than usual because you have dozens of "boses" depending on the project, service, industry, market, etc. Also, for the traveling and work hours, compensation is lower than industry and when compared to its peers.
