Not the company it once was...

Pros

The company once had a great culture and environment, an interesting and innovative approach to business intelligence and data visualization software, and a bright, energetic team. Qlik is undergoing a massive transformation, which is creating great opportunity for advancement, for some. Qlik's previous investments in a partner ecosystem has resulted in a large community of product experts and excellent successful implementations, delivering great value to customers

Cons

As in many organizational transformations, the current environment is more than usually difficult. Many of the innovative leaders and best talent left in late 2017 and early 2018. Qlik is backfilling with resources who know the product well, but not necessarily individuals with the same degree of innovation, passion, or courage to approach things differently. This works for now because the transformation end state is being decided by external consultants, and organic innovation is not desired. Qlik was valued for its unique and quite Swedish culture, but this is no longer the corporate vibe that employees feel.

Pros

Flexibility to work from home. Free food and snacks. Health Benefits have a reasonable deductible. Cutting edge BI products. Ability to work with and connect with people from all around the world. Very philanthropic company.

Cons

All of the $$$ coming in through the front door goes right out the back. They actually spent tons of money on creating a talk show format just to deliver the annual kickoff meeting. A host, TV cameras, couches, a band. Then it was taped in front of an audience of employees (who were allowed to leave work to attend btw) and later simulcast to the very same employees and the rest of the company. Tons of $$$ wasted on a 2 hr meeting that could have simply been held in a large conference room. You just can't make this stuff up! Just one example out of many! No real governance over operations which leads to increased costs due to inefficiency. Attempts to correct this have been painfully slow and lacked proper funding and support from management. The company had lost so much $ because of poor operating margins that it had to sell to a private equity firm who is most likely going to put some spit and polish on it and sell the first chance they get. Feedback to upper management in operations is frowned upon. You are not viewed as a "team player" if you raise concerns. Very political and retaliatory. They simply expect you to perform with minimal tools and support. Beware!

Pros

Talend was one of the best company cultures I’ve ever worked at

Cons

We went private equity and downhill from Qlik’s acquisition. No upside compensation since going private. Lost everything in equity when Qlik acquired Talend.
