Revolving door for new employees and you won't get compensated for training them. with that problem comes loads more (extra work, unhappy guests, unexpected call-ins, these are not required but if you are like me (college) you take what you can get (they probably exploit that)
Lots of unwritten rules (especially on computer system) that they don't really tell you about unless you do something wrong (my managers didn't scold me just told me how to do it later or i found out myself)
My hotel claimed "i would be compensated" for doing my online training at home with no proof that they actually pay me for it. most people stop after 5 modules (there are like 75)
Sometimes i feel like I'm gouging people as far as price goes for a room
Awkward hours. I often worked doubles till i got really sick one time and said no more. granted i did these doubles voluntarily and sometimes during school. Why? because i wasn't really making enough money and needed to prove to management i was reliable.(thus gaining bargaining power for later)
I have never met the owner and to me thats disrespectful. I have no idea who the name on my check is.
My GM works very hard. some days i am not sure how/why she does it.
I was working with lots of people my age (20) or a little older (speaking for my hotel) and with that comes newbies and cheap labor. the managers know these things so discussing wage is more difficult if you are like me (young and "unskilled")
