QVI is on the leading edge when it comes to technology. They build surprisingly capable machines given the 1970 mindset that many "leaders" within the company operate under. How quickly you drink the kool aid will determine how successful you will be at QVI. Questioning inefficient work practices, suggesting improvements and attempting to implement change will take you nowhere. Employees are implored to take on as much as possible, regardless of capacity. Only until your boss suspects you may be looking for employment elsewhere will your workload be realistically reviewed. When people leave or get laid off management is extremely slow to back fill. Doing more with less is the expectation from all managers.
The workforce is severely aged (50+). Primarily due to young people(-40) being driven away by legacy thinking and the inability to consider change. Lean is non existent, contrary to multiple banners and signs hung around the shop. This company has been around for a long time. It's evident after walking the floor that things have not changed much in decades.
Drama and politics run rampant, read other reviews to find the common thread. Drama is not shut down but left to ferment and straddle the line between acceptable and hostile working conditions. Politics often follow suit. When you are hired at QVI make a powerful friend as quickly as you can. Stay in their pocket and you will achieve great things.
