Pros

The people - only reason I stayed as long as I did Lower management- great people understand life work balance You may get to travel on quest dime to big work conventions Great products Ok starting pay good vacay and sick leave

Cons

Unfortunately working at quest was like being on the Titanic when it got hit by the iceberg. You see people colleagues let go with a life jacket which is nice of the company. But at the same time you see them and wonder if you will get on one of those lifeboats. The work is mundane and upper management expects to much with little to no rewards. I was with quest/Dell for 4 years and sadly only once saw a miniscule raise. Recently they appeared to have released a few more employees and promoted some within so that's good/sad. But the culture at quest is lacking at best I really do wish them the best of luck in the future the software they sell is actually solid.

There have been so many investments in our employees in the year since our divestiture from Dell including immediate targeted increases for five sites where we lagged behind market and full scale compensation planning for the rest of the company. We've enhanced benefits in the US, saving many employees hundreds of dollars in contributions each year. We have also done similar work around the world to ensure that we remain competitive. We have created and inculcated a purposeful culture as exemplified by our Purpose, Vision and Values model. The success of this can be measured in the literally hundreds of peer nominations we get each quarter for our Values awards. Last but not least, we introduced a companywide bonus plans for our noncommissioned employees and made a mid year payout based on results. We are still working hard on post-divestiture operational and logistical challenges. It's no Princess Cruise but believe me, it's no Titanic.k LuAnn CHRO

Pros

good people and a recognized need to innovate

Cons

years of underinvestment in solutions while under Dell, followed by wholesale replacement of senior leadership by former Attachmate alumni post divestiture, devolved one of the most successful independent software vendors into spare parts.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. Our leadership team believes that everything that made Quest successful in the past is still part of the business today. While we can't make up for what you categorize as years of underinvestment in six months, there has been significant foundational work done already that better positions Quest for success. I hope that you will watch Quest from afar and that you will begin to notice these changes. Good luck in your new role LuAnn

Pros

The products are really good and the employees really care about helping customers solve everyday problems. The work environment is pretty relaxed for the most part.

Cons

Since the divestiture from Dell it's been pretty rocky. Quest Software was originally a separate company before Dell acquired them. It was always great working for Quest and not much changed after Dell acquired us. A venture capital company acquired Quest from Dell in 2016. Ever since the split from Dell it's went downhill. There were major cost cuts with layoffs and many talented employees simply quit. Quest has been stripped down and the resources are vastly limited. The current management team has no plan in place to fix anything. Their hands are completely tied by the new owners of Quest. It's quite sad really. Quest used to be a great company to work for but now it's ran very poorly and their is no direction or vision. If you are considering working for Quest I recommend checking elsewhere. Quest is no longer a company that you can call a career.

As a former employee, you probably heard the rationale for reductions that took place post divestiture. And I don't disagree that it has been a tough transition in many parts of the company. However to state categorically that the management team has no plans in place to fix anything is simply inaccurate. From payroll to expense reimbursement to sales comp to facilities management, we have extensive work streams in place whose sole purpose is to solve post-divestiture problems. I would love to talk with you further about your observations and invite you to contact me at luann.johnson@quest.com LuAnn
