      Pros

      Dell Software (formerly Quest Software) has friendly and intelligent people to work with, globally renowned software and is conveniently located with spacious offices in Southbank, with a decked out kitchen and fruit delivered regularly. The presidents club for those who hit or exceed target is a nice perk also.

      Cons

      Very frustrating red tape, particularly since the acquisition by Dell. It is a very arduous process for quoting customers and completing orders, which causes customer dissatisfaction and a bad buying experience. I sympathize for customers who have gone through our strict order processing rules - buying software should not be so difficult and painful. The compensation is not that flash unfortunately and I've had no career planning with management which is a bit disappointing.

      Pros

      - Flexible hours. - Location. Aliso Viejo is gorgeous. - Some good people are still there, although fewer and fewer. - Opportunities to learn deep internals of database engines

      Cons

      - No raises for years. Senior management is convinced that money is not important at all for engineers - Everything has already been outsourced or is in process of being outsourced to China and Russia - No new projects for very long time. The company is growing through acquisitions only - Lot of really good people have quit - Engineering is essentially dead. Mostly sales and management positions are among openings. - Very high turnover among senior management. Few top-level managers stay for more than a year
