Pros

Quizlet is a "warm and fuzzy" type of company. The fact that the product has the potential to make a HUGE impact on a persons life, is why I work here. If a person uses our product, does better on a test, does better in school, gets a better job and has a better life? Then wow, how amazing is that? Most companies don't have that type of effect on peoples lives. We are building game changers. We are building things that can effect millions of people for the better. Learning is such a huge part of a persons life, especially when you are young. If we can help people learn better, learn faster, and make it fun, then we are changing lives, and you can't get that "warm and fuzzy" feeling at just any company. Quizlet is doing something pretty special. It's not everyday you can work at a company like this.

Cons

I really wanted to put something here, but honestly, I can't think of any.

Pros

• Used by 50% of US high school students & 1/3 of US college students • 18th most visited website in the U.S. 70 million visitors in October 2017 • 20 million mobile downloads on iOS & Android. Users love it because it helps them do well in high school, college, professional studies. • Company sends engineers, PMs, designers, User Ops and all new hires on classroom visits. Company is really in touch and empathetic with users. • Strong user growth and very strong revenue growth (doubling) • Experienced execs joining, turning down offers from mega corps for the opportunity. • Super-high ratio of users to engineers - almost 1 million to 1. So your work has impact. • Good engineering systems in place -- pushing server code 10+ times a day, shipping iOS & Android apps every 2 weeks. • Understand A/B testing - running 10+ at any given time, getting lots of optimization results. • Clear annual and quarterly goals. • Huge amount of challenges yet to be solved in engineering & data science. Vast data stores, tens of billions of rows. • Systems are under high load but mostly stable. • People are driven by a unified mission - no politics. • Snacks++ • Benefits improved a lot this year • If you wear your Quizlet shirt people will come up to you and tell you their personal story of what it means to them and how it helped them.

Cons

• Team is growing fast so new processes often have to be invented on the fly. • Reaching some scaling inflection points on back-end databases due to huge number of users and data -- we need more back-end & platform engineers • Major improvement in data tools over last year but need to keep improving these.

Pros

I've never worked with more driven and kind people. Everyone here, including all the engineers and office management, actually does care about education! Cutting edge technology choices and deep integration with Google makes it really fun.

Cons

There is a lot of legacy code, but the team has been actively migrating. Transparency and high level product planning is still a process they are figuring out, but once again everyone has the best intentions so hoping it will improve.
