Pros

Lets start with the reasons stated above: it has a fabulous pool of talent: you find people who are just great at thinking, conceiving, and making: simultaneously. And people are very good at understanding what the other person brings to the table. Unlike other agencies where the loudest person gets ahead, R/GA is setup in such a way that the wisest and the most talented have the ability to steer the conversation. To the major extent, I would say that this level of openness and collaboration is inspired by the people at the helm: BG, N-Law, and the leads of the range of disciplines. We have some of the best clients the industry has to offer! The work is consistently good. It keeps attracting great talent. There is a warmth to the agency that you dont find at other places. People are happy, and that says a lot. Every project is approached like a "start-up".

Cons

Time is a really really precious commodity at R/GA. Because of the sudden and unexpected growth, the agency culture is taking a bit of a beating.

Pros

The reputation of R/GA in the marketplace is great. They are fantastic at PR and that creates a certain image about the company and people who work there.

Cons

First, it's a sweatshop. I had never worked that hard in my life. After sleeping in the office for two weeks, I went to my boss to ask for 1 or 2 comp days for the people on the team. The answer was simply "no." Second: titles are so inflated. Someone who was a mediocre art director at one shop went to R/GA to become an Executive Creative Director at R/GA (yes, ECD - they have like 40 ECDs in NY alone). Third, the management layer is so think that if you are joining the company, you are just one of the hundreds of minions that rotate in and out. Fourth, the pay was horrible. Period. Finally, if you work at R/GA, you just accept the fact that you work FOR (not with) Bob Greenberg and to make HIM rich and famous, not you.
