Pros

The work can be interesting and innovative. The people are smart and fun to work with. There's a surprisingly small number of ego-centric jerks, and most people are humble and down to earth. Your checks won't bounce! Get on the right account and you'll fill your resume up with awards.

Cons

The buildings are in really bad shape and the work areas are depressing, dirty and sweat-shop-like. Once you get placed on an account, it's very hard to move. A lot of the work is slogging through very dry, low level pages of corporate websites. Not particularly focused on building memorable consumer experiences.

Pros

Cutting edge projects in the field and a top notch technical team makes R/GA a great place for techies with an art sensibility to develop their skills. The company's technical hierarchy is very flat and the enforcement of positions almost non-existent. That means that you could be doing anything at any time and while most work is related to your core activity, you will be doing a multitude of things in a project - from physics motion development to xml cut and pasting. The work environment is very liberal and people are expected to take responsibility for their work and run with it. There is minimal oversight, but help is always available if sought out.

Cons

Too much freedom does have its drawback. Lack of oversight and loose management generates a lot of extra hours and an extremely high workload. Weekend and/or late night work is pretty much a constant. Work tends to flow without much process and there is quite a bit of confusion on communication and client relations. I repeat another reviewer's comments that because people are expected to take responsibility for a project on their own, when that sometimes doesn't happen, a project can fail just out of owner, or someone has to pick up the extra load to make it happen. In the end of the day, because little oversight doesn't provide good info for management, people get rewarded by perceived instead of real competence - and it is not uncommon for quantity of work gets confused with quality and personal politics to trump excellence on promotions.

Pros

The talent at R/GA is phenomenal. There are a lot of interesting things happening at once and at times can be a little overwhelming to keep track of things that are happening across the company. It's growing rapidly but isn't getting out of hand. Kris Kiger, VP of Visual Designer is awesome and very personable as well as all of the other upper management, Creative Directors included.

Cons

It's a fast paced environment, and sometimes you can get lost in the mix because the company is growing so fast so if you want to expand your career, you have to speak up for yourself and voice your opinions. Also, the company is spread out into three buildings so it's hard to converse and get to know other coworkers outside of your existing team.
