Terrible Experience

Pros

Big budgets, free fruit, competitive salaries and a robust proprietary platform that does most of the financial work for you.

Cons

By far one of the worst working experiences I've ever had in my life. Executive leadership is a boys club of the worst kind, fostering a competitive and cut throat environment that is unpleasant and unhealthy at a minimum. Many of the "lifers" hold on to their piece of the pie by setting others up for failure. R/GA brands itself as being an organization that is creatively led and fosters a culture of collaboration. That is absolutely not true. Are they a very well-oiled and savvy company that lays off employees consistently to maintain high profit margins and constantly rebrands it's services in order to survive the marketplace? Yes. Advice to anyone thinking about working here: I know that the R/GA stamp on your resume is appealing, but the pain you have to go through working here really isn't worth it.

Pros

The twitter account is hilarious

Cons

On my first week, my manager was ‘too busy to meet with me.’ On my second week, my manager was ‘too busy to meet with me.’ On my third week, my manager said “I’m not really sure why you’re here.” On my first month I sat in a meeting where staffing assignments were made based on how ‘creepy’ a person was. On my second month I tried to open a dialogue with the Group MD. Nothing happened. On my third month I tried to open a dialogue with the VP. Nothing happened. On my fourth month I tried to open a dialogue with global leadership. Nothing happened. On my eighth month I asked my HR business ‘partner’ to be transferred to a different group. Nothing happened. On my ninth month I asked the CEO for a different role. Nothing happened. On the tenth month I resigned. R/GA is woke-washing, toxic workplace that only works for people from the right background.

Bunch of lying, underperforming hacks

Pros

Office is beautiful. Still a great name on your resume but not sure how long that will last...

Cons

Politically driven hacks lead the company. They don’t know how to clean house, letting poor performing individuals stay on because they have personal relationships with selective leaders. They themselves lack craft and experience. The client services are the worst, producers have no real skills, and people are getting promoted based on favoritism not craft. The company is trying to be everything but they’ve lost what they were really amazing at - design and tech. And all their talk about “business transformation” is a hack because no c-suite wants to work with them on the long run, they’re all project based. When you can’t make an effective change, clients won’t trust you to do business with them. If you’re curious what the employees are saying, go to Fishbowl and read some threads (if they haven’t been deleted by the company) about how unhappy people are and unstable the business is... It’s going to take a long time for them to rebuild their credibility. Anyone on the inside of the industry knows how dysfunctional they are at the moment. The work is no longer great because all the great talent walked out on their own.
