Pros

My paycheck had never bounced.

Cons

The harassment at this facility is remarkable. Racial slurs, sexual harassment and come-ons are rife. Management turns a blind eye, and finds a way to dismiss complaints if they are brought up. Many employees do not do their share of the work since there is no oversight, and therefore no consequence from management, and you are left to clean up after them. This is especially egregious since there are no merit-based raises. Everyone receives 1% annually, regardless of work ethic. Employees are stressed and miserable. On two occasions I have witnessed people coming into the bathroom just to cry for a few minutes. Healthcare and benefits are all but nonexistent. Pay is not competitive. No sick days.

Pros

There aren't any - it's a job only

Cons

Too many to list all: I worked for another RRD facility until the recession. Better pay and 401k contributions. St Charles offers low pay, minimal (1%) or no annual raise at all; poor and complicated systems; most are disgruntled employees that don't look past their own nose; some exceptionally hard working CSRs; expensive benefit contributions; EXTREMELY POOR MANAGEMENT

Pros

Some co-workers are good people

Cons

Forced overtime without notice so there is no work/life balance. Management has a "closed door" policy. They make themselves unavailable to listen to employees. Closed minded to suggestions or ideas to improve productivity, and are rarely at the facility. Only way to "talk" to a manager is through email and only responds less than 10% of the time. Doesn't care about safety. Broken pallets, boxes, product, overflowing trash all over the place. Machines that don't work right and told to run them anyway regardless if you might get injured because of it. Will not invest in repairs or updated equipment. Doesn't provide supplies you need to do your job properly but doesn't allow employees to supply their own either. Too much drama and childish behavior. Extremely high employee turnover. No paid vacations, holidays or sick time. No opportunities for advancement. No 401k. 1% annual pay increase. Health insurance is unaffordable and very little coverage. No bonuses. Too much favoritism. Rules apply to some but not others. A lot of people get away with doing/saying whatever they want, make threats to other employees and not be disciplined. But good employees who work hard call off one time because of being ill gets fired. Management causes so much stress people have breakdowns and develop PTSD. Understaffed because management causes people to quit and fire people without cause. Unable to get orders shipped by deadline because of understaffing. Belittles and single out employees. On the path to a class action lawsuit.
