Better Than Food Service

Pros

Large corporation, so health benefits, paid vacation, and holiday pay come standard and can be gotten and are stable, as opposed to maybe working for a smaller business or a start-up, for instance. Shift work, so good for irregular schedules. As the title says, not food service and largely separated from face to face client interaction, so if you're in retail this would definitely be a step up and lower stress.

Cons

No training, no HR engagement, management is absent (if you're lucky) or wholly incompetent. Regardless, there is NO support. No sick time, pay seems to be lower than industry average, facilities are old and it shows. Chronic understaffing and asking people to work overtime or extra shifts. I'm on a (functionally) permanent 50+ hours a week.

Pros

Big company and there are a lot of chances for you to get involved working with high-profile clients on majorly complex projects. If you are looking for that type of experience, this is a good place for you.

Cons

Big company where everything takes 3 weeks longer to accomplish than it should. The left hand never knows what the right is doing. Print is a dying industry. Because of this fact, no one in this company is safe from workforce reduction for the foreseeable future. Whether you are a V.P. or a line worker, you will be watching your back for the hatchet during your entire existence with the company. Also, the benefits there used to be great, but they have really stuck it to their employees over the last 5-10 years and don't count on any of those "big company" benefits you would expect.
