Pros

We have some great and dedicated people working here, its the only thing that is keeping this company running. I am amazed that after all the downsizing and changes that these dedicated employees still continue to produce amazing results. Thank goodness for all those retention bonuses!!!

Cons

We have had many changes here, and some have been for the best of the company and some have not, that said the current C-suite leadership, only a couple have actually moved to Chicago? why not? With retentions and bonuses C suite is pretty well off!! and with the current sale actions, lets just say they are very enticed to $tay! This company has not had a new sale in over 3 years our sales team is non existant and always has since the new "lack of strategy officer" my advice is if you are hurting for a job and want decent money for a bit, come on over!!

Pros

- Loved the people and the flexible work hours. - The ability to work from home was helpful.

Cons

- The software has serious issues and developers are not interested in fixing it. - Responsibility for keeping the software running is passed on to employees who did not develop it and are not empowered to make changes. - The employee is expected to be available 24/7, but Accretive does not provide cell phones or reimburse the employee for personal cell phone use. - The insurance is expensive and suboptimal. - There are some arrogant people there who just will not believe that they made a mistake. Everyone else is expected to just adjust how they work to accomodate the mistake. - Work is kept in silos and those affected are not even aware that changes have been made until they have to deal with them. - Communication is awful. - Many employees refuse to attend meetings. Those meetings that do occur are all over the phone and on Lync. Rarely do people meet face to face. - There are certain groups within IT that are required for meetings, but just don't show up or get on the call. Much time is wasted tracking these people down just to get updates. - Heavy reliance on offshore workers who are apparently treated badly and so are not motivated.

Pros

• Entrepreneurial culture for salaried positions. • You have freedom to uncover issues, expose them and develop action plan to resolve. • Good pay if salaried, better pay if you are a man. • Decent benefits, time off.

Cons

• Back stabbing by AH colleagues – Keep your friends close and your enemies closer at Accretive Health especially if you work in the shared services environment. Your front end counterparts will throw you under the bus to clients every chance they get. • Lack of team work – Regarding the back stabbing above, too many AH hospital leads work against their shared services counterparts. Instead of working on issues between the AH employees first, the front end AH leads prefer to lie and miscommunicate information to the client about the shared services areas, in order to try and evoke trust from the client and not shared services. If I were the client I would seriously be worried about anyone who back stabs their fellow co-workers instead of working on issues privately and then showing a united front. It would decrease my trust in a company that does not foster teamwork and allows such bad behavior. Instead AH promotes those people. • Technology is a JOKE - Accretive Health states this on their website: "Leading-edge, proprietary technology and data science” Neither technology or data science is leading edge. Technology is very simple, one dimensional at best and when flaws are discovered they are usually ignored or bandaged for a short fix at best. The system is not compatible with Epic, which many clients are transferring to. • No consistency with training programs - Training for some is OJT, for some a few days, for some two weeks, sometimes six weeks. • Lack of communication between upper management, front, middle and back ends. Who is responsible for what is a complete mystery. • Too many Silos - Again, lack of communication and too many hands in the same pot working on the same things but it is unknown who is doing what. If working on a project there is probably many different people working on the same thing but one would never know because there is no system of communication. • No consistency with HR rules - The area that I last worked at allowed hourly individuals to terminate whoever they wanted to with no proof of the bogus reason for termination. Other individuals that should be disciplined or terminated are able to continue doing as they please if they are not on the bad side of the hourly individual who is able to fire whomever she pleases. • Favoritism and nepotism runs rampant - See above. • Off shore work - Too much work is being sent off shore where the individuals rarely understand what they are doing due to high turnover and a lack of training. Off shore individuals need very specific and detailed instructions for each project they are sent, even if it is the same project they do on a regular basis.
