Pros

Great people - learned a ton about rev cycle and my team members really are good friends at this point; exposure to new technologies (important from a career mobility perspective); varied projects at times; management does care and are finally starting to invest in personal growth; C-suite has potential but sales team unable to deliver - the firm continues to lose clients but is unable to sign any new ones

Cons

Depending upon the client site, you can fall into a monotonous hospital operations role in which you learn nothing at all and the learning environment becomes stagnant. Many of my colleagues have left the company for this reason. Less pay than competitors. No tuition reimbursement benefits unlike other firms. Management has started to invest in professional growth ONLY after myself and peers threatened to quit. Industry is booming, Accretive is not. Competitors will continue to overtake us if firm does not adapt quickly (admittedly, I don't have the answers here).

Pros

Really innovative approach to dealing with many healthcare providers revenue cycle problems. Most of their process is essentially doing what the providers should already be doing, just doing it better. At its core Accretive Health has a solid business foundation and strategy.

Cons

Accretive Health suffers from a systematic lack of planning and foresight. This is driven more than ever by their hiring of people right out of college without experience to keep their costs down. Accretive offers no guide, no procedures, no footprint for new operations leads to work from. The combination of offering no organizational guidance and hiring students without experience is leading to strained client relationships because employees are not given the tools in which to excel. Many of the problems with employee satisfaction can lead back to one of the high level executives that likes to rule with an iron fist, swearing and belittling is more common than not when in his presence. Also as part of their strategy to keep costs down they keep advancement opportunities to a minimum and keep pay at the low end until an employee puts in their 2 weeks notice, at that point Accretive Health will counter offer. Despite their solid business model I don't see Accretive Health continuing to grow. They're making a bad name for themselves with their business tactics and the way they treat employees. I don't believe they will exist in 5 years.
