Pros

years of disparate patchwork technologies (all trying to run at the same time) lots of work (including after hours and weekend work) train wreck of a senior mgmt team that only looks at scuttling each other to advance. unskilled coworkers who are hanging on until someone notices.

Cons

Zero IT vision or roadmap, becoming dependant on RBC to do everything (which they cannot). Skilled employees leaving on almost a weekly basis Zero accountability to customers/users unskilled ineffective managers at all levels Senior mgrs are terrified of RBC executives and throw you under the bus to save themselves. Chained to the RBC anchor which kills any technology advancement. ZERO morale (not that senior mgmt cares about that). Pay lower than companies 1/3 the size (benefits are ok though).

Pros

Good pay Decent work hours Good work life balance

Cons

Poorly managed place in the controlling side. Senior management is clueless in the controlling side so there is no motivation for anyone to excel. Worse they are transitioning jobs in controlling to Canada. So beware before joining here. Layoffs even though the bank is making money. Layoffs even for folks rated outstanding. Not because the bank is not making money. But because Toronto is cheaper. Problem I see folks in Toronto can't compete with folks in Wall Street. Management doesn't see that way though. Hope the us government makes them aware that there is a cost of doing business in us.

Pros

The medical benefits are OK.

Cons

This may only be applicable to the specific department I was working in; nevertheless, the following occurred: -Poor communication between business units, senior management, middle management and staff -Favouritism -No room for advancement / growth opportunities -Salary was not competitive with the current market -Someone had previously complained about HR and senior management turning a blind eye to reports of incidents regarding mismanagement - this is TRUE. -Even if you possess the most herculean work ethic, you will not be recognized unless you are a brown noser. -Previous reviews mentioning self-promoters and "climbers" are VERY accurate.
