Pros

People, boutique firm feel, clients and friendships

Cons

Pay inequity both in terms of gender, age and experience. Failure to keep up with competitive market pay for existing employees resulting in loss of talent and experience. Management plays favorites and creates strife. Emphasis on respectful workplace but failure to address bullies, harassment and problem advisors as revenue is put over people.

Pros

Extremely flexible work schedule and there still is a Hybrid work schedule. Any new person will feel very welcome at RBC

Cons

Takes too long to complete things that should be simple. There’s always a new process but it’s never communicated down to people who need to know. Additionally, some long time managers need mandatory training to bring their skill level up to speed. For every one great manager, there are five-seven bad ones. Technology is extremely bad. They are just now trying to bring things up to speed. Wages. The firm can do better. I know people who have gone 3-4 years without a pay raise. Ok, they were a bonus but people need a raise and the raise needs to be more than 2.5 or 3% Too many people who work in a silo and lastly, good luck to you if anyone responds to your emails. Many longtime RBC folks will only respond if you cc their manager and if necessary their manager’s manager.

Pros

Benefits are the best PTO and work from home arrangement is nice

Cons

No matter how much you work, they will always ask more from you. There is no on the job training, you will be required to figure it out as you go. The managers are so busy they have no time left to actually pay attention to their employees. You are given no goals, no direction and no feedback. You cannot say no to questions that are asked of you, you are expected to do jobs well outside of your scope. If you do need help the managers will question your commitment. Managers work 60+ hours 7 days a week and most people on the team feel pressured to do the same. The technology they roll out is terrible and you are expected to stand behind the technology that does not work at all. You spend most of your day fielding complaints that you cannot take action on. They will roll out technology they know doesn't work and just hope for the best.
