Pros

-Helping customers find gear to help them get outside can be really rewarding -Most co-workers are cool and fun to be around -There is health insurance for part-time which is really nice

Cons

-No consistency in scheduling, so really difficult to work 2 part-time jobs if you need and you will NOT get enough hours here to be sustainable -No ability to grow--almost impossible to move into full-time position

Pros

Good employee discount perks as well as access to pro deals for high end vendors. Company does a good job encouraging further education on all products carried in the store. Generally (at least at my location) a good vibe amongst employees and management.

Cons

It's retail, wages are lower than we all want and often staff are asked to do more than that wage would cover. People can tend to be rude. Your hours per pay period are rarely met, even 'full time' employees usually only hit 38 hrs per pay period.
