Pros

Working with clients in the community

Cons

Constant employee turnover; unclear expectations; little support from middle management; productivity expectations too high; long work hours; little encouragement for self-care; no raises; management is top heavy; company has grown too big too fast; very stressful environment in which to work; little focus by upper management on taking care of their greatest asset, which is their employees (sense that they believe that workers are a dime a dozen and replaceable)

Pros

Work with amazing individuals.

Cons

Management gives themselves bonuses and never gives DSP's bonuses or raises -- Raises are written into your contract, but they don't ever give them. Management doesn't care when staff are sleeping on the job and sometimes abusing residents -- they just want warm bodies to fill the shifts. Lots of turnover

Not A Good Place To Work

Pros

Working to make a difference in the lives of clients with developmental disabilities in spite of RHA's lack of consideration and appreciation for people in their employ who do the actual hands on work.

Cons

There are simply too many to list! There haven't been any raises in the past 6 years. The blame for this has been laid at the door steps of state government cuts but corporate still found money to give themselves large bonuses some of the bonuses were six figures! The employees at the lower level were given a bonus in 2010 but it amounted to basically being a slap in the face more of an insult. The insurance is unaffordable and substandard. Many of the employees have to work another job with another agency. RHA basically doesn't care about their front line employees regardless of what they say. A non-profit with a corporate mindset and business model.
