Pros

fun working environment. you will learn a lot if you're newer to the industry

Cons

terrible compensation. investment banking analysts, associates, and VPs are paid a tiny fraction (30%ish) of what you can make at more mainstream firms. a lot of the hard working people who drive the success in the firm are paid peanuts. top management tries to keep all the money from themselves and is always looking for a way to get their hands in your pocket.

Pros

mgmt does not micro manage. you come and go as you please. decent pay outs compared to the street.

Cons

small cap product which is often illiquid; buyside is looking for the opposite: larger market cap and liquidity investment bankers and research analysts do very limited due dilligence, sometimes none at all they do not strive to improve themselves they are considered a deal shop, but will not pay up for talented bankers quality of companies/deals are horrendous and many are frauds
