Pros

Domestic Partnership for Benefits are a positive

Cons

To all incoming potentials, stand for who you are and realize that you do not need to drink the corporate Kool-Aid in any corporate environment to realize your future potential. Rackspace will sell you the world and the curly-slide from the third to second or second to first floor in the office (who cares) features in order to entice you to work there. You will also be amazed and impressed by their conference room names which are based on cereals and other generic food products which are familiar to us all - it all seems so fascinating to those who are working in boring normal corporate America and you will gaze with eyes wide open! The coffee bar will become ordinary after a few weeks and you will also have to go through about 6 weeks of brain wash camp to take on their corporate philosophy. It all seems so awesome at first, however, be aware that they are molding you into one of their Kool-Aid drinkers. Hey, if that's for you, that's all good. Waco is just up the road if you need to step it up a notch. For those not local to San Antonio, or if you are relocating from out of state, San Antonio is riddled with gang bangers and more graffiti than I've ever seen even having traveled the continental US and Europe (both east and west). Enjoy the view from your Kool-Aid cubicle because there is not much else to see there. If you enjoy working your life away and quenching your thirst rather than enjoying your life, PLEASE, this is the perfect place for you. Please do not let the smoke and mirrors fool you - this is advice from someone who is subject to the after effect of the brain wash boot camp!

Pros

1) Laid back atmosphere; not at all stuffy 2) Competent employees for the most part 3) Great benefits starting on day one

Cons

1) You are expected to work EXTREMELY hard, to the point of being overworked 2) Work/Family balance is frowned upon; want you to eat, sleep, and breathe work 3) Lack of advancement opportunities 4) Management has started relying way too much on metrics; almost to the point of a call center operation

Pros

Every career move is an opportunity to learn new skills, while bringing acquired skills with you. I learned new products and dive deeper into agility and DevOps.

Cons

I started in January - it was disorganization from day one. They decided last minute to assign accounts based on verticals. My assigned accounts were either already leaving or had been ignored. I began the arduous task of triage to try and create a reason for customers to stay, to talk to me. The trend was “you’re my fifth account rep in the past 18 months”. Customers were sick of new reps and the whole introduction process. They were reluctant to share any information about their challenges because they had no intention of buying from Rackspace. Customers were already down the road with other vendors. I don’t know what happened in 2022 at Rackspace, but 2023 was not going to be their year either. At the end of every quarter, reps were quietly being let go. It wasn’t the reps-no one was going to be able to sell in this environment. I spent a year fighting Rackspace created headwinds-making less money than I’ve ever made in a sales job, Rep churn in the Americas was ridiculously high. As your customers attrited out, your base was unsustainable and whatever was left migrated to reps in India after you were let go. Entire teams folded. This is bad business and not sustainable.
