Pros

Some benefits nothing else. Water taste good. Break truck brings good good food. Bathrooms fluses and microwave gets cleaned every year

Cons

no holidays for pick n pull employees and All Schnitzer employees do get holidays Unrealistic goals causes safety risk Management outta touch with production Pay is stuck in the 80's. People leaving all the time Feels like a dictatorship Again management has no clue Fake caring about employees it's all about money Third world country break rooms and bathrooms Favorite phrase is write them up!

Pros

Fun place to work, for a while anyway. Pay was great, people were better. Enjoyed the customer interaction.

Cons

Price of scrap dropping caused everything to plummet. So many layoffs that it became a pretty depressing place to work. Lots of empty promises. So much money wasted on perks that they have to take money out of employees pockets.

Pros

The yard is centrally located and it is easy to get to and from work. Also, they usually provide you with a hard hat and a vest for free.

Cons

Whoever has the job to reply to the Schnitzer Steel comments must be bored out of his mind! Constant reply to contact HR Business Partner is hilarious. Easy to say at corporate skyscraper but in yards we distrust our HR Business Partner more than any one in the whole yard. Tell him about problems or safety risks and we’ll likely be fired soon.. Many posts said to review other comments and I listened b/c job searchers need good comments from people who work at the yard 1. After all the reviews on this site it would seem it's your own fault for deciding to work there, putting up with the ridiculous hours, lack of support and disrespectful environment only to be shown the door. 2. Do your underlings a favor and either quit or retire. Please. Chairman of the board. 3. It's not what you know, it's who you know. A toxic environment that thrives on using fear tactics and intimedation. 4. There is simply no direction from the top at MRB. They are all long time buddies sitting on top of their thrones doing nothing. 5. TO THE BOARD OF DINOSAURS: Like Mr. Potter in the movie, "It's a wonderful life." As crooked as you are, your employees will find a way succeed no matter how much you steal from them. 6. If this is how you want to run your business, fine. But you need to understand that if you don't treat people with respect and kindness, then all the respectful and kind people will leave and you will be left with a quagmire of unhappy people, motivated by fear mongering.
