First off, thank you very much for your recent review of Yankee Leisure Group (YLG)! It’s wonderful that you’ve only been onboard for six months and have already experienced or seen firsthand the amazing benefits, perks, work culture, and career advancement opportunities we offer. As a company that’s all about helping people see more of the world, it’s no surprise that we offer FAM travel trips. These are not only a very exciting, unique perk, they are also highly rewarding and morale boosters. YLG wants its employees to enjoy traveling around the world (or traversing North America to its treasured national parks and iconic cities) just as much as its customers. We know at the end of the day, benefits and perks mean a lot to a personal bottom line, and to the success of each of our brands. You’re right, our leadership cares deeply about its staff. We believe that our company can do well and do good. We want our employees to feel proud to work here and be motivated and passionate about the work they do. Just take our annual bonus plan, as you mention, for example. It was put into place to promote the achievement of excellent performance and results—individually and as a company. It’s an incentive to go the extra mile, and our employees know in advance what must happen for them to earn one. To address your comment about our company’s “growing pains”: As our business grows and scales (we’ve experienced a record year in 2018), we understand that often comes with its own set of challenges to overcome. Thank you for bringing this point up. We recognize that resilience is one of the most important characteristics we can instill in our employees. We also want to make sure they’re comfortable bringing up their concerns when something arises that threatens to slow them down or compromise the quality of their work. When this happens, we pull together as a team and thoughtfully solve our problems together. YLG is not in the business of letting setbacks hold us back. Again, thank you for your review and we look forward to having you onboard as YLG continues expanding into the global market!

Pros

Some great people work here I have formed life long friendships. It is a good company with potential to grow and promotion. Going Global. The CEO and President are good to work for. Will work for YLG again, mainly because of them.

Cons

MINOR CON: whilst it is part of the job, there is pressure to up sell and close the deal, just to make money and fast. Sometimes it's that they forget these are retirees that are making vacation plans. These trips are not cheap once priced out. Give sales staff some room to apply their own selling mojo. MAJOR CON: Some of the leadership team think they are better than everyone else. Such a different approach than that of the President and CEO who are engaging and open

I’d like to thank you for reviewing your experience working for Yankee Leisure Group (YLG). Both your kind words, suggestions and feedback are appreciated. For starters, I’d like to address the concern you raised about YLG not understanding its target market regarding upselling and making offers to our customers. Essentially, knowing and taking care of our customers is inherent in our DNA. This company would be nothing without our customers, and they are always treated with patience, kindness and respect. From initial inquiries to post-vacation follow-up, top-notch customer service paves the way for continued success. That is just one reason why call center staff aren’t given a set “talk time” with customers—to ensure all their questions are answered. Alternatively, there are many times when our customers need suggestions because they are so unfamiliar with how the rail systems operate in Europe, North America, as well as in various countries around the world. Depending on what kind of travel experiences they are looking to book, we offer suggested itineraries that may fit their needs and budget. In terms of those members of YLG’s leadership team you believe “think they are better than everyone else,” that is not something I am aware of. Thank you for passing this information along. That kind of behavior is not tolerated. Being in the hospitality business, our philosophy is built on kindness, respect and honesty. Although you may have had the impression that our leadership team does not include women, we actually have many women leaders in our organization (two of them are on our corporate steering committee). Not sure if you are aware (and we can do a better job communicating this) but our corporate website only features our brand leaders who deal directly with our customers, reselling partners and product vendors worldwide. It does not showcase our overall steering committee or leadership teams (as this is a much larger team made of a diverse group from all over the world). However, this fall, we will be giving our corporate website an overhaul to accurately reflect and promote the heart of YLG, and who we are as a global organization. Thank you, again, for the time you spent sharing your perception of your experience at YLG with us. We wish you the best in your future endeavors! Frank Marini President

Thank you for your post and I am sorry to hear how you feel. There seems to be a disconnect from the general comments you list below with who we are as an organization. With four offices (London, Beverly, Laguna Hills and now Sydney Australia, as well as over 100+ staff) I want to let you know that I do care, and I welcome the opportunity to speak to you directly. I have to say I am surprised to read this feedback, as we just had our 2018 Mid-Year Update where I presented to each office and every staff member an update on the company, and we had break-out sessions on what was working and what can we improve on. Everyone gave great, honest feedback on what we do well, particularly about the open communication, opportunities and welcoming atmosphere at our company. I do want to mention that I question if you work for YLG as we have seen a pattern of negative posts that always seem to come in right after we receive a positive post. When we responded to those former negative posts asking for the opportunity to have a dialog, and expressing that we would re-post in a week if that person reached out, the post was then deleted from Glassdoor, including our response, which seems unusual. Even in light of this, I would like the opportunity to hear YOUR concerns directly and even work with you to solve them, as you list you are a current staff member. I am willing to listen and help either way. Let’s get a dialog going! Sincerely, Frank Marini President Internal Ext- 1109 I will be re-posting in a week to update all if you called or not as I feel being honest and transparent is the best way to be. Thanks UPDATE ... It has been a week and, unfortunately, you have not attempted to reach out. I was looking forward to connecting with you to honestly and openly discuss the concerns you addressed in your review. However, my invitation stands and I’ll welcome your call anytime.
