It's hard to criticize Slice due to the impact it's made on my career and life. But every team has some dysfunction.
Some of the struggles we face are due to the fact we have two offices, one in the Bay Area, and one Odessa, Ukraine. This has presented communication and coordination challenges. That being said, I've been impressed with the way we've been able to unify the teams, and truly value the contributions and perspective of our team abroad.
Another issue we've faced is paying off some deep technical debt, and pushing past status quo style thinking. We could do a better job of embracing newer technologies and being willing to move quickly and break things. This is something we're aware of and we've made strides in this direction.
