Pros

I've worked at four startups that have successfully exited, but Slice is by far the best of them all. I've never seen a team of founders or management team so invested in their employees' happiness and growth. Part of what makes Slice so unique is the honest feedback employees give each other - whether it's VPs and C-level's on the leadership team, managers to employees, colleagues to each other, or employees to managers. Honest, direct and constructive feedback is given on an ad hoc basis, but at least every 6 months on a scheduled basis within teams. Within teams, it's given publicly in front of all other team members. It sounds incredibly scary at first, but afterwards, my team members said that they trusted each other EVEN MORE than before and was so thankful for the feedback. It's the ultimate trust fall. As a woman in tech and also a woman on the leadership team at Slice, I valued the diversity of employees at Slice. I felt like my career, as well as those of other women's, advanced in my 3+ years at Slice, even though I took the maximum amount of time for maternity leave. I felt fully supported by all my colleagues on the leadership team and my product teams during that time. If I didn't have to relocate for personal reasons, I would definitely still be at Slice.

Cons

Many decisions were consensus-driven as it was very important to get everyone's input and buy-in, but it did lead to a lot of meetings.

Pros

Starts with the founding members and management team. Amazing team who sincerely care about your personal and career growth. They're experienced vets of SV, so no first timers figuring their way around. The working team are also rock stars.

Cons

The office is top notch, but the location in San Mateo leaves much to be desired. Zero options to walk for food outside the office if you wanted to take a break from the free food, which of course is an awesome benefit in itself.

Thanks much for the kind words! We understand that the location may not be ideal when it comes to walkable lunch options, but free is always a good thing!

Pros

A combination of talent and creativity that is not easy to find. Every individual I meet at Slice is both extremely smart and has thirst for knowledge within and beyond their respective fields. I've seen marketing people learning Python, and machine learning engineers attending presentations on advertising strategies. Every day I walk into work knowing that I'm growing professionally thanks to this environment. I'm given challenging problems to solve and the power of having a big impact through my work.

Cons

With the recent growth of the company, space at our Palo Alto location has become scarce. This should be solved in a few months once a larger location is available.
