Pros

Great corporate culture and mutual respect for all employees. This is global company whose work force reflects the countries represented. The company is flexible and considerate of life events that require time off. There is also the fact that Polo Ralph Lauren is the regarded leader in apparel and that carries a lot of weight when working with different retailers. There is plenty of opportunity for advancement if you are based on the New York market and also the Greensboro, NC markets. Senior management is always very respectful and friendly and the corporate environment is very inclusive and positive on a regular basis.

Cons

Opportunies for advancement are very difficult to come by if you are not based in New York. If you work in the field you are pretty much stuck in this position. the compensation is less than that foe comperable positions with other retailers and perks are regularly eliminated (i.e. clothing stipend, mileage reimbursement). There can also be a lack of consise communication from the New York offices. In this position one often feels as if they are the "low man on the pole". This position can require quite a bit in comparision with the compensation and perks offered by the company.

Pros

Ralph Lauren is full of tradition and legacy. I am a part of a team that change the way that designers and brand names merchandise their product within department stores. From the moment I joined the company, I was given the feeling that I belonged to something special. While the task can be challenging at times, I know that I will get support from Senior Management and somewhere in the immediate future I will be rewarded. Ralph Lauren Company also allows time for family and supplies its employees with lots of benefits and perks to make life fun and comfortable.

Cons

I haven't experienced many downsides to working for Polo Ralph Lauren. However, I will say that the current economy has had an effect on business. This does present a sense of uncertaincy, Ralph Lauren is a brand that can be costly. With people being more cost-conscience, it has become a little harder to sell people on the lifestyle and luxury of our product. I department stores full of items that are marked down to the lowest price point, its a challenge to compete. Everyday in the news you see companies laying off workers, and I sometime fear that I could be one of those peolpe.

Pros

It is a well-recognized company with a lot of potential for growth. You need to speak up in order for you to be heard at times and get what you deserve. If you want the chance to advance within the company, you will have to go for it aggressively. Nothing in life is really handed to you. Another great reason is the opportunity to continue learning new things, whether it is a new process, new program to help with your job or maybe something outside of your career zone. At polo you continue to learn new tools that help you with your person goals.

Cons

One of the negative side of working at Polo is the long hours we put in daily in the Finance Department. It comes with the position but I feel some deadlines are not reachable during reasonable hours, this causes a lot of us to work later than others. Another negative is the lack of communication from management to the peers. In any company, news travels fast and management is always way behind on the news. Also some information that is important to our position sometimes is not communicated with us and this causes problems with our tasks. I think open communication is the more important trait to have in a company.
