Pros

Like any other start-up company, the main advantage of working here is that one gets a considerable amount of responsibility and learning opportunities. Only difference is that this is now a mature startup company with a strong client-base. The work-force is very young and active. Most of the work-force is very intelligent and some are just brilliant people. A great opportunity to build contacts and just learn from them - problem-solving and leadership skills. The job itself is very exciting, the company is open to custom solutions for clients, which requires a lot of innovative ideas, data analysis and simulation. Austin city is a great place to live. (The company's HQ office is in Austin) Work environment is friendly, casual and the people are quite social.

Cons

The company very recently came up with a system to review employee performances based on which they would be given pay raises / promotions. Until very recently, they did not have any employee review system.

Pros

Decent pay, opportunity to grow and take more responsibilities, casual work environment, Decent medical coverage with family included.

Cons

Where do I start ? One of most ridiculous environment where there is absolutely zero value for you or your personal life, family or even anything you want to be part of outside of your work ! The upper management, way from top to the next level, dismiss the idea of having a decent work-life balance, family time should be in the back burner . Every project is on critical path, thanks to their numerous abilities and resource management /scheduling talents ! Employees are expected to work 12-15 hours and on weekends most of the time.. Saturday/Sunday/Holidays are luxury offered by the company. While being at a customer site, your working hours go anywhere from 16-72 hours. The quality of the software is maintained high, thanks to their maniacally detailed test team on which everyone is banking their bucks on. There is hardly one or two members in the upper management team who has rational thoughts, and more considerate towards employees and their grievances, but unfortunately, they are bound to the whims of their bosses. Getting a vacation approved in this environment is something you unheard of. You need to get approval from 2 level managers even for a single day, your immediate manager is of no use since certain individuals insists that every approval needs to get their stamp of approval. Most of the time you will be penalized for a vacation which you took several years ago, and the upper management keep bringing that topic for every conversation. If you work for 3 straight weekends, then you get 1 day off ! That too, if your boss is in good mood. Otherwise, no compensatory day off policy ( on purpose! ) People from certain countries are harassed and humiliated in most of the meetings, and even during the interview process. No respect or professionalism displayed even by executive management. Upper management goes with the weird thought that they can buy employees by throwing money at them, and expected to work like animals day in - day out. No culture of team building or activities..all work and no play...every individual face is gloomy and comes with minimal motivation. Company boasts that there is no politics, that is a hoax. Most political and nepotist company based on past experience. Any constructive criticisms will be dismissed at the roots, and now you fall in the bad books. Everyone enjoys being cornered by your boss, rather than being supportive and help each other to grow.

Pros

Pros...that's a difficult one. Salary was ok. Benefits were ok. Dress code was casual.

Cons

Just an awful work environment. The technical environment and code was very messed up. The management was out of touch with employees and dismissive in general. The work was unnecessarily stressful as none of it was rocket science. There was a considerable amount of turn over as few of the employees were happy.
