Associate Agent

Pros

Pros of working at Redfin include a large amount flexibility in your Schedule and being self sufficient, as well as getting to enjoy a great amount of positive interactions with wonderful clients during the home buying process. This position within the company can be a wonderful way to train and acclimate the newly licensed agent in the real estate industry.

Cons

The associate agent position at Redfin is an independent contractor role that sometimes can leave you feeling isolated from the company culture. Also this role requires a lot of driving, so if you don't love to drive it is probably not a good fit.

Good Place to Learn

Recommend

Pros

Great place to learn if you are new to real estate. Technology based and forward thinking. Remote support available if needed. Flexible schedule if you want to work part time as a contract employee.

Cons

Company is growing fast and a lot of change occurs- can make it a bit of a "bumpy ride." Since the company went public there was an obvious tightening of expenses and cuts in pay. Events and meetings that contractors used to get paid to attend were labeled "optional" with no pay. Many of these meetings had important content, and so if you want to stay informed you must choose to not get paid for your time. As a contract employee you do a lot of work that you do not get paid for. Often scheduled events are cancelled after work has been completed on the events.
