Pros

Remitly cares about your well-being as an individual, and they are generally open to feedback regarding what they can do to best support their employees. The CEO genuinely cares about creating a product that supports immigrants, not exploits them, and most of the leadership follows that guidance.

Cons

Remitly is in that awkward growth stage where it is figuring out how to still act with the flexibility of a startup, but is truly too large to be as agile as one. Cross-team collaboration and communication can sometimes be difficult to coordinate and execute. They are aware of the problem, though. For some people, the base salary pay may not be competitive. Stock options are offered, so it's a balance between getting a larger salary now or betting on the future. I'd also recommend weighing the benefits of good work-life balance.

- Inspiring vision and mission. - Fast growth startup.

Cons

-The company does an abysmal job of hiring and developing diverse candidates. The leadership talks significantly about being 'proponents of diversity and inclusion,' but their actions hinder the progress of diverse employees. - Since the C level executives and managers are mostly men, mansplaining their direct reports come as second nature. It is indeed a frat boys club as mentioned by other reviewers. It is infuriating to witness one's credibility to be questioned daily. Makes you sincerely self doubt your expertise. - It is painful to see how little the leadership cares and does about the known gender pay gap.

I care about you as well as Remitly becoming an even more diverse and inclusive workforce, which is why it has been and will continue to be one of our top priorities. I'm pleased that we did transition our Exec Team to be 100% Remitlians that identify as men to 43% people who identify as female and we recently opened a role to hire a senior full time D&I leader to support this work. These are of course just a few steps but D&I is definitely a focus area for me and for the company. I'm sad to hear that you left Remitly.
