Pros

Diversity of cultures including in leadership Flexible PTO Strong benefits Mission driven

Cons

Frequent pivots in business even on a monthly level. No point in annual plans. Layoffs that are frequent and unreported whether due to % "underperforming" or no reason given. Lack of work life balance due to scarce resources Leadership now concentrated in Europe which is becoming disconnected from the bigger US and Canadian businesses Does not support remote workers

Changed so much in recent years and not really in a positive way

Pros

- Good benefits - Hybrid Work Mode - Fast Paced and there is a lot you can learn - Work Culture is generally good as long as you are not working with the manager/executive level

Cons

- We are becoming more like Amazon (i.e. less transparency from leaders, long-tenured people and good ones are all leaving, very heady documentation culture) - Manager no longer gives credit or kudos like we used to even though they are encouraged - So much work to do and have serious issues with prioritization - Does not know how to be agile, takes forever to launch a product - Too many re-orgs - Too many review processes

Pros

I am a tenured employee at Remitly, and what originally drew me to stay with the company as long as I have was the commitment to culture and values. However, as we’ve continued to grow, leadership has allowed culture and values to be undermined and are now rather a marketing mechanism for customer acquisition. We don’t value diversity, we take advantage of those in underrepresented groups and are contanstly changing policies that worsen culture rather than promote it.

Cons

Remitly needs to employ pay transparency. They allow people to change roles, sometimes to complete different job functions and continue to pay them the same way. Salaries are no longer competitive and to top it off, we are overworking tenured employees and paying them less than new employees.
