Too Good To Be True

Pros

Good pay and benefits including unlimited PTO

Cons

Their public handbook may suck you in but they don't follow their own values. I soon discovered that the head of sales left the month before I started but nobody would tell me why. A month later a new head of sales started and the head of my department left shortly after. Then came the hiring freeze announced shortly after raising 300 million dollars. Key people started "quitting" but we soon learned they were forced to do so. Lastly, there was the 10% reduction in force. These are not the actions of a company that brags about transparency.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Remote took every step to ensure we remain sustainable and efficient during the current economic crisis and we were transparent even when it was really hard, we are sad to see you did not experience this in your role. Our current attrition is 2.2%, which is well below industry averages, however we are continuously working on always improving our non-regretted attrition and keeping it low. Lastly, we take social engagement very seriously and building relationships is part of our core. We love talking about lego, shoes, pets and all things that matter to all our Remoters from a social and fun perspective and will always leave room for this.

Instable and not Reliable

Pros

You can work from wherever you want in the world.

Cons

In my opinion, this Company is not reliable: In 8 months of work, my contract (and salary) was modified twice. They are very vocal on social media and very loud about their company values and how they value their people, but then they fire more than 100 people in a few hours without any notice because of miscalculation of company needs/ market potential and overhire of hundreds of people more than needed - and offer the lowest severance required by law. Orrible experience.

Pros

Flexible working culture. Unlimited holidays. No micro-management. Sales team very supportive. Positive culture overall.

Cons

Cross-functional teams seem to just ignore difficult requests or pass them to another team to keep their KPIs up. Losing prospects and customers because of long delays getting questions answered. Sales Ops need to re-carve books of business. They are completely disproportionate and have never been assigned in an equitable way, meaning it's trickier for newer reps to hit targets. Grew too quickly and made 15% of staff redundant.

Thank you for providing insight into your experience while working at Remote. Company culture is very important to us and we’re glad you found it positive overall. We agree that there are areas to improve, like in how cross-functional teams work together, so we appreciate the detailed feedback and will make sure it is heard by the right people.
