Company has lost its way

Pros

People doing the actual work care deeply about the mission and are committed to helping the company be successful.

Cons

Private equity ruined this company. It went from being a people-centered and mission-centered organization to one driven solely by spreadsheets and profits. This culture may be fine in the Silicon Valley but it doesn't fly in Central Wisconsin where honesty and integrity still matter. People at the highest level of this company are some of the most disingenuous and narcissistic people I've encountered in my career. They have totally lost the trust and confidence of the employees. Such a shame for this to happen to what was once a great place to work.

Pros

For years, Renaissance was a stable happy job. Benefits were good, work life balance were good.

Cons

We became hyper focused on hitting metrics. Pointing became a performance metric and no longer reflected real world work. Eventually layoffs started and I survived 2 waves before the third took me. Learned afterwards that Renaissance began outsourcing work overseas more or less right after.

Pros

- Competitive pay - Work / life balance - Culture

Cons

- Layoffs, promises of no more layoffs, then more layoffs - Management is rigid and long-lived. If you have a manager who is unkind to you, you have to deal with it or risk stirring the pot - Mistakes from up high are often blamed down low. - Company only sticks to its mission statement for customers that pay a lot of money.
