Great benefits and opportunities

Pros

One of the biggest pros of my job is the access to growth opportunities and the support the hospital provides through its benefits. The tuition assistance and career development programs have helped me further my education and work toward long-term goals that will allow me to grow within the organization. Knowing the hospital invests in its employees’ futures motivates me to stay, improve my skills, and become an even stronger asset to the team.

Cons

While the hospital promotes a strong message of work-life balance, the actual experience can vary significantly depending on the unit and leadership. In some areas, policies around scheduling, seniority, shift changes, and part-time/per diem status are applied inconsistently. Favoritism is often apparent, especially in environments where leadership closely fraternizes with certain staff. This creates an uneven playing field and can be discouraging for employees who are simply trying to do their jobs well and advance fairly. Greater transparency and consistency in how scheduling and opportunities are handled would go a long way in improving morale and trust.

They go for the throat.

Pros

Compensation, camaraderie, good parking options for employees, teaches many new nurses.

Cons

First of all, Renown, very dirty. The dirtiest hospital I've ever worked at. Sodexo's solution for a while was to use too much bleach as a scent cover, however, it did not cover all the actual dirt. Calling Environmental Services for any kind of clean-up assistance outside of normal business hours was ignored. Nurses often said that we'd clean whatever mess up ourselves if we'd had proper supplies. Disgusting biological messes happen all the time. However, floors soaked in urine and feces don't rate a thorough mopping, even when it was time to clean the room for the next patient. Sometimes it only gets wiped up with a towel, so there are remnants everywhere to walk in. This was a regular disappointment, despite routinely reporting the issue. Multiple times, and for random discouraging administratively driven reasons, they failed to provide me with the basic resources to do my job and didn't think they had any responsibility for the results. They do regular mandatory staff wide meetings to be seen as if they are transparent with the staff, as that was a popular complaint from employees. However, when it comes to addressing having lost a law suit for systematically failing to pay employees working through lunch, or drastically cutting incentive pay, or contracting out all house services, things that very much matter to working people- Silence. I'm keeping this to my personal experience, however, I am not anomalous. Renown HR lied to me from the start of my employment right through to the end. (It is not illegal for HR to lie to us, btw.) I had wanted to leave them, and it could have been amicable. Then, they didn't just want to get rid of me, they allowed one of their vindictive HR staff to try to harm my overall life circumstances. My God. How dare you use your considerable power to harm anyone, Renown. People First. Renown are the biggest game in town. They generally pay the best too. But it can be psychologically damaging to work there, contending with daily pressure from Human Resources, lack of support and misleading information from administration, and easily replenished, necessary resources being withheld. I’m discouraged and disillusioned. Renown should do better with and for people.

Pros

No dress code, remote work, management was nice, job was basic and straight forward.

Cons

Didn't pay a liveable wage, you could be written up fairly easy if you don't follow exact protocol on a call.
