Hardest Most Fulfilling Training I've ever undertaken... Grateful beyond words
Pros
I will go ahead and call their training world class because it is. (1)Great 5-star accommodation in Tampa, FL (disclaimer: not always put in the same apartments, but the one I lived in was 5-star luxury). Amenities like salt-water pool, gymnasium, etc included. You pay $110 a week for your accommodation. (2) Intensive 10-week Java training course with extreme hands on involvement. Their technology is always cutting edged, based on market demand. There is no way you're coming out of this with nothing. (3)Paid a minimum wage stipend during training ... caution accommodation deducted from this (see#1 above)... pay after taxes and all else was about $345 biweekly. (4) Trainers are readily available to help, if you show that you want it and are able to keep up. Our particular trainer took time off on Saturdays to get us to understand the material more. (5) You get to work on real life projects and applications preparing you for the job market. After training you are PLACED with a reputable/ Fortune 500 firm... and Revature supports you through all this. (6) The friends you make here forge solid relationships that'd put a fraternity/ sorority to shame. At Revature, batch is truly family! (7) For lack of wanting to sound like a pro-Revature informercial, here below lie the cons ...
Cons
(1) Do not come here if you think it is an easy entryway into a job (2) There will be sleepless nights .... several of them and a horrendous amount of stress. Your hair, like mine did, will turn grey... no joke. (3) You must keep up with the fast-paced environment/ teaching. You will study and work every single moment of your time here. If you like those lazy weekends, forget about coming here. You will be fired if you attempt to cheat, claim work that is not your or just generally don't seem to catch up much. You will be expected to represent Revature in the most professional manner, including wearing strictly business professional every Monday, and business wear on Tues, Wed and Thurs...This is a con for me because I abhor anything formal. I dread Mondays... (4) If you are a family person, mother or dad, brace yourself: You will have to shut out your family for this 10-week period ... I kid you not. You will have no time for scraped knee, ear-infection or utility bill talk... nothing. You WILL have to shut your family out. Be prepared to miss birthdays and special occasions. Ensure there is a three month income stream and emergency fund for the family. Lots of people say if you are a family person, stay away. I say it can be done if you follow my advice...In the end it'll all be worthwhile...
