Pros

Best out of college training you could ask for

Cons

Training is intensive, requires lots of after work study to improve yourself but will ultimately lead to you getting hired faster Housing can be a mess. Probably the worst thing about the job but hey you should be leaving in 2-4 months

Pros

The training I received at revature was great. The first few weeks helped to solidify the concepts I learned in college, while the rest taught me new technologies that are in high demand in the field. They give you the experience needed to get your foot in the door. There is housing provided if you need it and the wages during training is easy enough to live off of.

Cons

Some of the apartments provided are to small to house the six people living in them. The training is hard and there is homework occasionally. The work can sometimes cut into your weekend. If you're not prepared to work hard then this may not be a good fit for you.

Thank you for taking the time to review Revature. We value the feedback of our software engineers and use them to make our company and hiring process even better. We strive to provide great corporate housing to those software engineers that travel to our Reston office and will pass your comments on to our Housing Coordinator. Thanks for all of your hard work and congratulations on becoming a Revature Software Engineer.

Pros

They do help people who have a non-tech related degree be able to switch careers and gradually transition to a tech career. They do allow people out of their initial contract after a year or two, allowing people to join the company they work for as a sub-contractor and get out of their low wage, this is a better model than other cases where they do not have that limit on your time.

Cons

Would not touch them if you have a CS Degree or already know coding, they will not teach you much of anything useful. The contracts are manipulative and bind you to a much lower than normal starting wage. They basically introduce you to the concept of Certifications, find certifications and earn them before applying to jobs. It is at most a few hundred dollars to take a test to certify after you study and practice for them on YouTube. Basically they just show you the certs to get for jobs and take hundreds of thousands in wages off the top from people in exchange. Although they tentatively say you can back out of a contract when they use bait & switch tactics (pretending they will give you a job that sounds good, but giving a different job), people from poorer backgrounds will find themselves genuinely trapped and not have the choice but to sign the contract after moving there because you realistically cannot move back or find a new job in the timeline given by them in most circumstances.
