Pros

None, you will be much better off completing a Udemy course.

Cons

There is no way someone who hasnt already had years of experience in programming is going to be able to follow along with the training they provide. The training is highly disorganized, way too much too fast, and outdated. More than half of our group were let go 4 weeks into training, and one day before our P1 project was to be presented. All of the long nights of studying and completing the project was thrown down the drain. If you ask me they knew they were not going to be able to find us positions and should of never hired us in the first place. Trainer was a terrible teacher, probably leaving many feeling like they could not do it and in my opinion understanding the concepts is totally doable, but when you have a trainer who speaks to you in a gaslighting manner that alludes that you already have an understanding of the material is really bad education. The QC sessions are highly disorganized. You are given questions about concepts you were not instructed to study for. There is no way a person can cram, memorize, and have a good grasp on these concepts within a week. The training structure makes no sense and does not determine who will be a good developer. Also, I thought it was extremely concerning that all minorities in my cohort were dropped and only white males were kept. We were not given any reason why they were chosen over us (I totally understand if it was due to scores) and you can't help but think it was discriminatory. It was even admitted by our instructor that certain individuals were not given the same tests. As a minority, you know when these microaggressions have occurred and this was definitely one of those situations, if you ask me. This is a huge problem in this industry. Overall terrible experience, I wish I could report this company. They should not be allowed to operate. Awful. If you want to learn software engineering concepts, you can do a much better job learning through Udemy or CodeAcademy. You are going to end up teaching yourself anyway.

Pros

It's a way for career changers to get their foot in the tech industry door.

Cons

- can't pick your tech stack curriculum - you're learning a new concept everyday for 10-12 weeks, so training is INTENSE - job placement is not guaranteed - trainers are associates who completed the Revature curriculum (good and bad) I finished the 12-week curriculum in Java/Angular/AWS. After training you go into staging to wait for client interviews and brush up your skills. 8 days after entering staging I was furloughed along with 100 other associates; I never even got the chance at an interview. I'm sure the furlough was partially because of the economy and a tech hiring freeze, but Revature also lost their major client Infosys due to sending poorly trained associates to projects. And I'll admit, even though I passed the curriculum I definitely did not feel like Revature set me up to be successful with a client. Revature pumps people out of training to send them to clients, it's how they make money. I knew this going into it BUT I had hopes that my training would be better quality then what it was.

Pros

It’s a good idea/concept I guess

Cons

No organization, terrible miscommunication, manipulative, not helpful, what they tell you at the beginning will be changed at the end of the program. In other words, they tell you what you want to hear and then once you finish the program they will tell you that all those things that they said at the beginning are not true and that if you don’t do what they want you will be kicked from the program. It’s absolute garbage. This company has put a rift between my family and I! Also, you are SO underpaid even after the program. When you finish the program and go to the client you don’t even do coding, so they lie about getting 2 years coding experience
