Bad culture, bad leadership

Pros

They provide lunch on Mondays.

Cons

This company has one of the most toxic cultures I’ve ever experienced. Women are routinely dismissed, talked down to, and excluded, and I personally witnessed racist and misogynistic remarks go unchecked. HR takes no meaningful action because leadership is a tightly knit group that protects each other rather than employees. Favoritism is rampant, and advancement has little to do with merit. Many employees are from Riverside, IL, the same town that the CEO is from. Many of them are unqualified for the roles from Riverside. The workplace culture can best be described as “just do your job”, creativity, effort, and initiative are not valued. Most employees are visibly unhappy, and morale is very low. The office requires a rigid 8–5 schedule, five days a week, with no flexibility, and leadership keeps a close eye on when people clock in. It creates an environment where people are simply counting down the hours until they can leave. The CEO comes across as arrogant and disconnected, with little understanding of the realities most employees face. Leadership overall seems out of touch, with a narrow worldview that trickles down into how decisions are made and how people are treated. Women in particular are not respected; I’ve seen their contributions dismissed and their ideas shut down.

Pros

Good work life balance, but you won't like the work

Cons

Reveal continues to try to buy their way into a larger market. They keep acquiring companies, icing out their employees, and eventually the customers as well, in an attempt to migrate them to their flagship platform. You can imagine what the codebases look like as a result.

Pros

Reveal is filled with talented, driven professionals, and I genuinely enjoy working alongside my colleagues each day. The company has undergone significant growth over the past few years and has made deliberate investments in maturing its operations, including its processes, products, and people. Amid broader uncertainty in the tech industry, Reveal has demonstrated stability and resilience. For those willing to put in the effort, it is a place where you can meaningfully expand your skill set and take on high-impact projects. The company fosters an environment that encourages learning, ownership, and career mobility. You are never limited to a narrow path.

Cons

The complexity of integrating multiple acquisitions has, at times, introduced distraction and a temporary loss of focus. However, the company’s recent emphasis on organizational maturity and operational stability has enabled a renewed focus on innovation and product development.
