Reveal gets a lot of flak online because reviews tend to skew negative. The reality is that folks who leave on a lukewarm note aren’t compelled to write a review so you typically only see the outraged negative reviews. Could the management team have handled the recent acquisitions better? Undoubtedly yes. Could they be more transparent in their communication? Sure. But this is nonetheless an awesome place to work at and grow as a developer.
A lot of the same people leaving negative remarks willfully overlook the unique positives at Reveal. It’s a financially stable company with the development opportunities of a startup. You get opportunities to build greenfield features from scratch — functionality that doesn’t even exist in any third-party library, let alone from competitors in the industry. You get the opportunity to code A LOT. You won’t get stuck pushing minor CSS tweaks or config changes; this is a place where you’ll write a lot of real code impacting real customers, and you’ll get a chance to hone your craft.
Reveal doesn’t confine you to a narrow scope. You’re given opportunities to learn any part of the tech stack. I’ve personally seen a half a dozen colleagues transition between roles in Customer Success, Devops, Backend Development, Product, and Frontend Development.
The talent pool at the company is a mixed bag. There are some average engineers, but the exceptional ones are truly world-class. These individuals don’t just lead by example — they consistently ship high-quality code, refine development processes, and mentor others with patience and empathy. Management, while not perfect, is fundamentally made up of kind and well-intentioned people who do their best to support their teams.
Yes, there’s an official five-day in-office policy, but most people come in only three to four times a week. There’s flexibility in work hours, allowing people to arrive later or leave earlier as needed. Food from really good local places is catered on Mondays and Fridays. There’s also an awesome lounge on the 21st floor with every amenity you could ask for.
I spent a formative part of my career at Reveal, and I can honestly say it was a great development environment. Don’t let a handful of disgruntled reviews mislead you. Is it the right company if you’re looking for a remote, cushy job where you’re endlessly pampered? Maybe not (and let’s be honest, that kind of workplace doesn’t really exist anymore in 2025). But if you’re looking for a place where you can grow your skills, work with some outstanding engineers, and be part of a company that genuinely values technical excellence, then Reveal’s worth considering seriously.
