Pros

Company car/fuel card (that you pay for through salary deduction each month). Possibility of quarterly bonuses (paid if/when company feels like it or based largely upon factors outside of your immediate role/performance). Decent pay (if stress/anxiety doesn’t have you spiraling and you don’t have a family to support; also assuming inflation doesn’t continue rising). Diversity & inclusion… if/when it applies you’ll probably enjoy more career advancement opportunities.

Cons

Unrealistic expectations on workload, no respect for work/life balance, entry-level pay increased for new-hires (little to no merit pay increases after that), constant barrage of extra work/initiatives (largely falls upon territory managers to execute), no real direction (other than get everywhere every month while constantly assigning office work which you won’t have time to do during working hours), little/no team-building activities, no real training program for new hires (really depends on who you report to/TM’s who provide training), company car will only fit 1-2 people on good days (way too many materials to have any remaining trunk/back seat space). You MUST be completely self-sufficient in all aspects of your position because if you’re lucky you may receive clear direction in 1 area out of the 1,000 tasks/executable activities you will perform daily. You had better thrive operating completely in the “gray” areas because even management can’t rationalize the direction provided by senior/upper management. Managers/directors (even great ones) are so afraid of losing their job or of BAT (parent company/leadership) in general that you can expect little to no understanding, patience, clear direction, or realistic expectations (at least not long-term). No long-term stability, job security, or even compensation (bonuses). Some people may have to travel constantly/drive 4+ hours a day for the same pay as those driving 30min. You may also have a territory that is largely low-income/high-crime for also no change in compensation (or safety measures in place other than carrying your rape-whistle and saying a prayer before leaving your car).

Pros

the checks clear every couple weeks. company car, and 401k match.

Cons

where to begin? Let's start at the top, the ivory tower dwelling trolls have no clue what actually happens in the field. communication is terrible. we get little to no lead time for major changes to things that matter like overly complicated useless new contracts, complex new pricing, return process etc etc. then when our puppet masters do come to town we have to spend weeks prepping a perfect route so we dont offend them and their perfect world vision. After the latest "reorganization" they shoved TMs into rolls they were unprepared for after bleeding off a ton of the field workforce, with no extra compensation. they bring in new TMs and suddenly they make just as much as tenured reps, and brag about that like it's something great. we are told you work 8-5 but have to spend hours outside of that window to get everything else accomplished. they give us these weak bonuses with no explanations of how we truly got to this point. SIP is a trash fire. they made a huge hype around our new cars, which we have yet to a tuslly see in the field, and a lot of us are well past the minimum requiremnt for a new car. The expectations set from hime office are unmanageable. constant POS changeovers that have no effect. everything is suddenly a priority. God forbid your division has a vacancy, good luck fitting that coverage into your already jam packed schedule. if you enjoy being over micromanaged, stifled, not having enough hours in a day, and want to experience anxiety first hand while being fed a bunch of bullhockey, and watching your competitors win, this is the place for you.

Pros

To move up at BAT here is the list of things to be successful. **Note- none of these things have to do with work results**. 1) Buy a fancy watch 2) pretend you work for Mclaren 3) buy a suit coat or blazer 4) get others to do your PowerPoints 5) more PowerPoints 6) again- PowerPoints , but from all departments 7)make race car analogy’s constantly 8) interrupt everyone . All the time . 9) Buzz words - NTO, a better tomorrow

Cons

IA’s have officially taken over this place , and don’t an amazing job at over complicating every step in the process. Somehow they have managed to be masters at over complicating how to sell cigarettes . Seriously , you are a cigarette company . You sell cigarettes . You’re not Apple, Mclaren, or Tesla. The majority of the world is against the product we produce, yet somehow the IAs think otherwise . The biggest issue is the majority of our “leaders “ come from a market where you cannot market or even show the consumers your products. So we end up getting a group of individuals who have no real world experience in this industry writing the strategy of the company . Essentially, working here is like have it a first class ticket on the titanic . It’s going down, and fast .
