During my time at Rhodes, the Urban Studies Dept. chair was excellent with regard to appropriately scheduling student employees and offering any assistance our group required to perform our job well.

Cons

Occasionally, projects overwhelmed the department's abilities.

The opportunities to gain leadership skills and take hope good pay as an RSAP are surprisingly abundant and varied. Rhodes does a good job of matching students to jobs that actually reflect their skills and interests, not just opportunities for pay.

Cons

Because student workers report to the department for which they work 99.9%, it can be hard to deal with central administration who often don't fully understand exactly what you do or why. Each department manages its workers in different ways, and the differences between academic departments, physical plant, the library, etc. can be immense.
