Pros

Rise Technical has doubled headcount, turnover and profit year on year for the last 4 years. The Bristol office is a hive of activity with over 50 consultants and the training and development is exceptional. In 2013 Rise was awarded 'Investors in People - Gold Award'. Last years incentives included Las Vegas, Formula 1, and England rugby. Progression is clear and targets are achievable. Rise operate as a meritocracy, offering promotions based upon performance rather than length of service. The engineering marketplace is strong and the leaders within the business are focused on individuals reaching their potential and delivering a great service.

Cons

The environment is suited to ambitious and highly motivated individuals who want to progress their career through achieving great results.

Pros

The commission structure is decent

Cons

I worked there a few years ago at the start of my career, and unfortunately I would not recommend it as a place for graduates. The compensation was very low compared with other recruitment firms, particularly given the hours and expectations. New joiners were required to memorise an internal training manual referred to as “the Bible,” but I found much of the content had limited practical value. The client base and quality of work were also weaker than I expected, and I did not feel the role provided the level of development or market exposure that graduates should receive early in their careers. At the time, the experience affected my confidence and made me question whether I was suited to recruitment. Since leaving, I have performed very successfully elsewhere, which made me realise that the environment was a significant part of the problem. My advice to graduates would be to compare the compensation, training, client base and progression opportunities carefully before accepting an offer.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience at Rise didn’t meet your expectations. It’s always disappointing when a former colleague leaves with that impression, particularly as our goal has always been to help people build successful careers. We’d like to address one point directly. We do not force anyone to leave positive reviews. We do encourage colleagues who genuinely enjoy working here to share their experiences publicly, as many businesses do, but this is entirely voluntary. We also never ask anyone to post anything that doesn’t reflect their own opinion. As for the rest of your comments, it’s clear your experience was some time ago, and our business has evolved significantly since then. We’ve invested heavily in our training, leadership, technology, career development and employee wellbeing, while expanding internationally. Many of our consultants have gone on to build long-term careers with us, achieve promotions and earn exceptional incomes, although we recognise that our environment is not the right fit for everyone. Recruitment is a demanding profession, and different companies suit different people. We’re pleased to hear you’ve gone on to be successful elsewhere and wish you every success in your career. We remain committed to listening to feedback, continually improving, and providing an environment where ambitious people can develop both personally and professionally.
