Pros

My 6+ years at Riverside Research have been the best years so far in my career. I worked a few different positions and always had good, supportive managers who looked out for me and encouraged me to grow as a professional and challenge myself to do great things. Since it's a small company, whenever I needed help on the HR/benefits side, the staff knew me and remembered me, and was able to provide personal, immediate help.

Cons

A general con/disadvantage of working in a contract job with a small company is that sometimes when a contract ends, the company doesn't have a good fit to place you and they have to let you go. That is the nature of the business, though.

Pros

strong compensation package with generous benefits minimal bureaucracy you will be left alone if your contract is well funded and your Program Manager is well respected.

Cons

Since this is a small company, the character and reputation of the Program Managers will impact the future opportunities of their direct reports. When a Program Manager has a negative relationship with the customer, contracts disappear. Unfortunately, this has become the new standard.
