Board of Trustees are no pro community or students, they all have their own agenda they are trying to fulfill, and it is not community or student focused. Very sad.

The work environment at Rock Valley College amongst coworkers is definitely 10/10!!! I've been here for 3 years so far and I have never had a problem with my coworkers. When I receive callers, they are very courteous and friendly, sometimes you can get caught into a conversation with callers. Never have I experienced being yelled at or harrassed for doing my job

Cons

The HR (Human Resources) side of Rock Valley College is truly the dark side of this place. I was put in a situation where our department was being "restructured" (sidenote: we're still doing the same job, new title). And I basically was going to be changed into a new title with no salary change due to ICCB classifcation, all colleges have this HORRIBLE ICCB system that they must follow and it truly makes your job 10x harder if you wanted a raise/compensation for doing the job. Another con is they WILL low ball your pay. I had to unionize in order to get the pay I deserve.

Amazing colleagues. Amazing students. Beautiful campus with walking paths, pond, wooded areas and stream. Easy to get to the main campus.

Cons

If you can handle demeaning and micromanaging administrators, no input into your own class schedule, falling salaries, exceptionally high faculty and staff turnover, and an anti-faculty president and board of directors then this is the place for you.
