Pros

Rockwell is a large company with a lot of opportunities to try different things. It still retains much of the long-time Allen Bradley culture, which is generally a good thing. There is generally decent work life balance, though not as many flexible options as some companies offer. The people are really great to work with though.

Cons

New ideas are slow to take root. It's hard to push through innovation, as it is a conservative company. Presently, the tough economy has meant layoffs, as well. As with many large companies, the politics internally can sometimes cause problems, but that's been more rare in my experience.

Good for sales only.

Pros

Great company if you are in sales. Overall, the compensation is fair, the people are treated with respect, the management is usually open to discussions.

Cons

Rockwell is not an engineering company anymore. Engineers are no longer trusted with anything more than travel expenses. Even technical decisions are rarely done done by engineers. People are no longer responsible for making something happen, we have committees, boards, voting. Too many people are reviewing, to few work. To change something, you need to address 10 people, many of them do not have time for the review anyway. The other problem is that engineering is considered just an expense. Need better fiscal results? Trim engineering.

Rockwell Automation, behind the lines

Pros

The amount of work the company needs to be fixed.

Cons

The company is more like a political survival cess pool, than a team which works together. People are building there resume's, rather than building winning teams.
