      Pros

      Colleagues and perks are fun. The benefits are ok.

      Cons

      Extremely abusive culture. If you are in the "in" crowd you can do no wrong. There is a "PIP" culture that lacks complete transparency. Leadership reacts to competition vs. embracing it. They promote shady customer terms as well.

      Pros

      There are very few companies of this kind in the world, let alone in Sydney; strong revenue growth, pre-IPO, and solving real customer problems. As a PM, I can see the impact that my teams have on the current and future success of the business. The office is made up of incredibly smart and humble Roktstars that make work enjoyable.

      Cons

      Maintaining a healthy work life balance in product is challenging; particularly in roles that require regular check-ins with colleagues and client in New York.

      If you look beyond the surface

      Pros

      Great surface-level benefits eg free lunch, wellbeing allowance, relocation, transparent pay, yearly most-expenses paid company trip to places like Hawaii, Vancouver, Sydney. Opportunity to work with brilliant technical minds. There is also a surface-level illusion that management constantly takes feedback to improve (employee surveys and follow-ups) but then they make excuses for low engagement scores eg “it’s a high performing environment”. I hear a whole lot of excuses and no genuine attempt to address concerns. Simply read the company responses/excuses on this site and judge for yourselves.

      Cons

      Beyond the surface, there is toxic management, poor work-life balance, a general unwillingness to genuinely address employee dissatisfaction. As I divulged above, they have been so good at shutting down constructive criticism with poor excuses such as “I don’t think our performance management is a problem since this is how Amazon does it” or “we pay above industry standard” in response to criticism about work-life balance expectations. Obviously if you believe this is all worth it just to be paid slightly above industry average, then this may just be the place for you!
