Pros

Their contribution to the defense business and their reputation is excellent. There are many talented and dedicated employees. They are willing to make new hires feel welcome and will offer assistance as time permits. There are several business units, so if you get into one area and don't think it is a good fit, you can move to another area.

Cons

Middle management tends to worry about their own career over the good of the company or their direct reports. There is a lot of politics and less than honest feedback on procedures and announcements. Leadership is done by teams, therefore there is no ownership or responsibility for actions. If one member of the leadership team doesn't like someone for any reason, that person has no possibility for career advacement or future with the company. Many functions are not well documented. Therefore it can slow down getting projects done. Typically there is someone that had done the job before, if you can locate them you can move on securing the necessary information. Finding these legacy employees is akin to finding a needle in a haystack. Some employees are given breaks and special assignments that allow them to travel the world, necessary or not. If you happen to be part of the choosen few, (qualified for the position or not) conferences and meetings to great locations happen frequently.

Pros

If you like Aerospace related work, this is the place. Aircraft engines are an exciting profession. Pleanty of travel opportunities if you want with the right job. Generally work with professional people in the office and shop environment. Upper management seems genuinely concerned about quality of work life and is working hard to improve the working environment. We have the backing of a great parent company (Rolls-Royce-plc). Since the sale from GM / Allison 15 years ago, there has been steady and consistent forward progress and improvements. The benefits are pretty good considering what others in the same industry are offering. The 401K plan is excellent and the matching program is about as good as it can get.

Cons

It is a big company and unfortunately a Union shop. I believe that most shop employees want to do a good job, but they are way too protected by the Union and it tends to poison their work efficiency.

Pros

Global by definition. Trying hard to change. Family time is important. Sslaries are average. Jobs are good for steady employment but not for aggressive styles and aggressive growth. Good benefits but compensation average. Trying to be a social company with donations etc.People are treated decently but diificult to communicate upwards..

Cons

Poor and not very clean work environment. Some structures are same for last 50 years. Factory is trying to become modern but will take 10 years. Management is not easily accessible. Overall old style of bureaucracy. Black people don't get a chance because of british culture.
