Pros

Fellow employees were nice and respectful and hard working.

Cons

Silly, to the point of being stupid, the drill they put you through every shift start. Store Management ,at the directive of upper management make the SPS (Loss Prevention) repeat what they do, and repeat their job description EVERY SINGLE SHIFT START. I have never had a job where I had to repeat what I do to my manager every single day. They treat you like a child and as if you are stupid. You are only allowed to walk the floor once an hour and then only if you can find an associate to stand in your place for 10 min's., which is very hard, most of the time.25 hours a week is all they allow you to work. Are you kidding me?!

Pros

As with all off-price, business is good and consistent and layoffs are not a worry as with most retailers. Additionally, training programs are above average for the industry.

Cons

Exhausting is the only way to put it. Strong employees are overworked and taken advantage of. Constantly asked to cover for open roles. Mistakes are hyper-focused on and will be documented on reviews, even if its an anomaly. Corporate culture is awful. All direction is top-down and you better agree with it if you want to move up in this company. And lastly, for a woman-run company it is appalling the lack of flexibility and lack of encouragement for mothers. You will notice the people at the top are males or childless woman and are not a reflection of the people at lower levels.

A "self-critical" company

Pros

Good Pay, Good Benefits, a few good people.

Cons

Before you read this review, please take a moment to watch the first 5 minutes of the 1st episode of Comedy Central's new show called "Corporate". You'll laugh at something they practice at their fictional company called "Confrontational Criticism". With all seriousness and no exaggeration, that scene captures the pure essence of what it is like to work at the NYC buying office. If your a prospective candidate, prepare to work your hardest, and embrace a culture shock that will probably rock your personal life mentally. The company however does have a successful track record and the bonuses were very nice : )
